What is the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)?
Our PCF represents the greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout a product’s life cycle – from raw material extraction to the finished product. The cradle-to-gate calculation includes emissions from raw material extraction to the point at which our product is prepared for shipment. Additionally, we provide useful insights into data on the product’s use and disposal phases.
How to find PCF Information (PCFI)
You can easily access PCF data directly on our product pages at endress.com by following these steps:
On the PCFI document, you can find:
- CO₂e values for representative product configurations
- Calculation methodology (cradle-to-gate) based on industry standards
- Specific data that enables customers to estimate the impact during the use phase of our products
- Information about our product's disposal at the end of its life cycle
- Our sustainability commitment and roadmap
- Further calculation details are included in a background report (available on request).

Our PCFI roadmap
We are continuously expanding the availability of PCFI across our portfolio, with the goal of delivering comprehensive Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for the majority of our products. By making PCF data available, we aim to:
- Increase transparency across the value chain
- Support our customers in achieving their climate goals
- Drive innovation toward more sustainable product designs.
Our roadmap to net zero
Endress+Hauser has committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our PCF initiative is a key milestone on this journey. Additionally, we are working closely with suppliers to reduce upstream emissions, increase the use of recycled materials, and embed sustainability into product development through eco-design principles.
Empowering sustainable solutions
Endress+Hauser actively contributes to increasing the efficiency of industrial plants with innovative products and solutions. Our goal is to minimize the consumption of resources and the impact on the environment, both for our own company and for our customers. While our products support customers in enabling data-driven decisions and improving process efficiency, which are key levers for achieving sustainability goals, manufacturing our products also impacts the environment. This is a significant concern for both – us and our customers. That’s why we analyzed the environmental impact of our products and now offer Product Carbon Footprint Information (PCFI) for our products.
